A fun set underway…….bay window, crown molding, great colors……I’ll put up the final in a day or two (hopefully!)

Had a neat assignment last week.  Traveled to the Mille Lacs area where I was able to visit the home/studio of Steven Premo.  Steve  is a very talented artist who just completed a mural commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Grand Casino; my assignment was to shoot the mural for reproduction as a poster to be distributed as part of the anniversary celebration.  It was a pleasure to meet Steve and a pleasure to see his work.

No news here — the world seems to know it already — but the Alec Soth show at the Walker is worth seeing.  It’s very nice to see a local boy do well.

The Hamlin Garland project lives!   A number of years ago my good friend Kurt Meyer and I collaborated on a project featuring images of Northern Iowa coupled with Garland passages.  The project was well received resulting in a number of shows stretching from Wilmington, North Carolina to Aberdeen, South Dakota.   After the initial schedule of shows the project found it’s way to storage in my studio archive……..but a phone call out of the blue brought it back to life!  The show just completed a run at Iowa’s new Mitchell County Museum.  There’s been loose talk about developing the project into a book so we’ll see if we can get a little energy behind Garland and Northern Iowa again….

On another fine-art front, one of my pieces was recently exhibited in a show at Icebox Gallery in Minneapolis.  Icebox has been a long-time supporter of photography in this area; if you haven’t been there lately swing on by…..there’s always something interesting on the walls.  Here’s my piece from the show…..

Busy days at the studio…..a wonderful thing since it’s too cold to sail.

Was this the…tenth?…or ninth?…row of the season. Another gorgeous morning on the St. Croix in any case…no dive bombing eagles this time (is that good or bad?).

Here’s a quick phone grab of a set we shot today.  This one had a nice fire roaring in the fireplace…always nice to have a new twist with a project.  A little napalm in a Cinefoil tray did the trick quite nicely.  And the studio still stands.

The Hot Club of Cowtown rocked the Dakota tonight; check them out next time they’re in town.

Just back from a great weekend in San Diego; two days on the J-80, one day on the 105. Really nice to sail seriously outside of an event…if you miss boat call by half an hour no one cares! TIP: Lahaina on the beach right about where mission Beach turns to PB – a great place with a great vibe…catch it late afternoon to sunset.

Thanks to Paul Fletcher for this great shot of me (lit in a style flattering to me).  You can also see a sweet set in the background for a national ad campaign for a furniture manufacturer.
